Western SLOVAKIA Bratislava EXHIBITION: NINE BRANCHES of the Slovak National Museum have prepared a joint exhibition for all gourmets and admirers of Slovak lore. Through a number of historical documents and fascinating exhibits, The Tastes and Aromas of Slovakia display presents cuisines typical for the national population, as well as for the country’s minorities – Hungarians, Germans, Croatians, Ukrainians, Ruthenians, Roma, Jews and Czechs. The exhibition is available at the Podhradie exhibition hall at Žižkova 18 in Bratislava daily except Tuesdays from 10:00 to 17:00 until March 30, 2009. KošiceCONCERT:CONCERT halls throughout Košice and Bratislava will resonate with beautiful melodies by Dvořák, Janáček, Martinů, Schulhoff, Eben and other Czech maestros as mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená, one of the world’s most successful singers, begins her European tour. She is promoting her new album Songs My Mother Taught Me. Accompanied by Malcolm Martineau, a renowned British pianist, the famous Czech opera singer will offer an unforgettable musical experience. The first concert will be held at Košice’s Palace of Art (Moyzesova 66) on October 30, starting at 18:00. In Bratislava, she will perform at the Reduta (the Slovak Philharmonic Concert Hall, Palackého 2) on November 2 at 19:00. Tickets cost Sk350 (€11.62).
