Western SLOVAKIA Bratislava CONCERT:THE AUSTRIAN Cultural Forum in Bratislava has prepared an attractive classical music concert to kick off a series of events organised within the Haydn Year 2009 programme. Dominika Stráňavská, a young award-winning Slovak singer, and Štefan Doniga, a noted pianist from Romania, will perform compositions by Vivaldi, Bach, Hummel and three arias by Mozart (Chi sa, chi sa, qual sia, Vado, ma dove? and Alma grande e nobil core). The concert will be held at the Austrian Embassy’s Mozart Hall at Ventúrska 10, on January 28 starting at 18:00. Admission is free. More information about this as well as other upcoming events can be found at www.rakusko.eu.ŽilinaFESTIVAL:A COLLECTION of seventy short movies from the 2008 Amsterdam StrangerFestival will be available at Stanica Žilina-Záriečie Culture Centre (Závodská cesta 3) in Žilina from January 28 to February 15. At this festival last July young people from all over Europe were invited to join what the organisers called “the biggest event for young video makers and fans sharing movies”, to take part in numerous workshops and to shoot one-minute videos on any topic. The best works, chosen from among more than 1,000 videos, are now touring the continent. Different love stories, horrors, self-portraits, documentaries and much more can be seen at this multi-media display, with no admission fee.
