Trenčín FESITVAL: TENS of thousands of people will soon converge on Trenčín to take part in Slovakia’s best-known and most popular music event, Bažant Pohoda Festival. From July 16 to 18, musicians, DJs, dancers and other artists from all over the globe will be performing live at numerous open-air stages with American singer Patti Smith and Scottish band Travis being among the highlights. Apart from the concerts, so varied that they will include even classical music performances, various film screenings, workshops and discussions are available. EXHIBITION: FOUR artists, four friends, four stories, one technique. This is the essence of a new exhibition entitled Quadridisplay, which is being held at the Bratislava City Gallery until July 23. On show are drawings by Jan Steklík, Otis Laubert, Monogramista T.D. and Igor Kalný, who, in spite of coming from different generations, all have a similar poetic conception of the world. According to Daniela Čarná, curator of the exhibition, these drawings “talk about small things of great importance; they are poems written in the language of visual art”.
