Western SLOVAKIA BratislavaTENIS: The 4th year of the Tennis Classic will welcome, for the first time, the current world women’s tennis number one, Caroline Wozniacki, who will compete with Slovak star Dominika Cibulková. It promises to be a dramatic match, as their record so far in 2011 is 2:1 in Cibulková’s favour. The exhibition will also bring tennis showmen Henri Leconte and Mansour Bahrami (above), who previously visited Bratislava in 2009. This time round they will appear in the National Tennis Centre Sibamac Aréna, Príkopova 6, on November 21 at 18:30. Tickets cost from €29 and are available through www.ticketportal.sk.

Concert:Chassidic songs / Chasidské piesne as performed by Bratislava’s Rabbi Baruch Myers (piano, vocals, center), Jozef Lupták (cello, right), Boris Lenko (accordion), and Miloš Valent (violin, left) emphasise the classical Jewish music that tries to speak to people without words, using only melodies. Where there are lyrics, they come from psalms and stories. The group will play in Košice (in the historical Town Hall) on November 23 and in Nitra synagogue on November 22 at 18:00. MUSICAL: Krysař / Rat-Catcher – The classical fairy tale has gained a new meaning and symbolism in the version adapted by Czech musician Daniel Landa. With its more than 1,000 re-runs, it ranks among the most successful and popular Czech musicals. Since 2002 it has been staged according to the version choreographed by Dutch choreographer Dirk Smits.

ART FESTIVAL: FactoryArt – The 4th year of this festival of Slovak art is entitled The Holders of Tradition and is dedicated to the memory of renowned Slovak artist Vladimír Kompánek, who died in January 2011. Apart from an exhibition of his work, the festival also brings a video-screening on November 25 at 18:00 by Ján Šicko, plus a concert by the Veni Ensemble.
