CONCERT:THE OPENING concerts of the 64th season of the Slovak Philharmonic (SF) will take place on October 18 and 19, at 19:00, in the Reduta, at Medená 3 in Bratislava. Both concerts will perform the works of Mozart, Haydn, and Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, as conducted by the chief SF conductor, Emmanuel Villaume (see photo), with Viliam Vojčík playing solo on French horn. EXHIBITION: 20 rokov Gandy Gallery / 20 Years of the Gandy Gallery) – Milan Adamčiak: EX-PO and Motýlik a kraul / design of windows Matali Crasset – Two exhibitions mark the 20th anniversary of the gallery bearing the name of Nadine Gandy, art lover and supporter. The first shows the work of an eccentric Slovak artist, the latter will display window designs at the gallery of the French Institute until Oct 25.

FESTIVAL:THE FESTIVAL of contemporary dance Festival Four (+1) Days of Dance for You brings an overview of current trends in Slovak productions . From the opening of the exhibition, a performance by a domestic ensemble on October 15, to the Spanish-Slovak production Hidden by CobosMika Company on October 20 (see photo), a host of dance shows, dance theatre pieces, contemplative and poetic performances, and improvisations will lead audiences through the inspiring world of dance and dance-related arts. JAZZ/LIVE MUSIC: Frisch aussa-Tour 2012 – Within the Oravajazz Festival, the Stelzhamma troupe fuses modern trends in music with folk music dating back to the times of Franz Stelzhammer and Anton Bruckner, adding a pinch of humour. CLASSICAL MUSIC: “2 IN 1” – The 2 IN 1 project by the Slovak Sinfonietta is interesting in that two conductors take turns wielding the baton – Leoš Svárovský and his student Lukáš Pohúnek – and soloists alternate as well: Bibiána Bieniková will play with Spaniard Alberto Requejo (both clarinet) and František Figura with Katarína Joniová (both violin). The works performed are by Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Karel Stamic, Bach, and Mozart.
