SHOW: AFTER SUCCESS abroad, the acrobatic and dance show Argolla 5th Element will give two performances in Bratislava on January 18 and 19 at 19:30, in the Aegon NTC Arena on Príkopova Street. BALLET: Ludwig Aloisius Minkus, Marius Petipa: La Bayadere – This classical ballet, choreographed by Marius Petipa, premiered in St. Petersburg under the title Bayaderka. The librettist Sergei Khudekov drew inspiration from ancient Indian dramatist Kalidasa’s play Sha-kuntala. The tragic love story is ideal subject matter for an evening-length ballet with a dominating classical technique.

LIVE MUSIC:GERMAN electronic musician Barbara Morgenstern makes her Slovak debut, playing in the Stanica Žilina-Záriečie culture hub at Závodská 3, on January 15 at 20:00. After moving to Berlin, she started playing mainly in small clubs and improvised bars with established musicians. Her latest album, Sweet Silence, is her first to be performed in English. SLEIGH COMPETITION: Slovenský Pohár & Veľká Cena Horehronia / Slovakia Cup and the Grand Prix of Upper-Hron Region in a special category: riding old, wooden sleighs called krne or krňačky. This competition allegedly originated in the municipality of Turecká in 1957 as part of carnival season and has become a tradition ever since.
