CONCERT: THE HOPE Gospel Singers’ concert on April 30, at 19:00 at the Ateliér Babylon in SNP Square 14 Bratislava, will feature famous local jazzman Peter Lipa together with musicians Pavol Bodnár (piano), Juraj Gregorík (bass) and Štefan Bugala (drums). The vocal-instrumental ensemble The Hope Gospel Singers and Band, led by Iveta Viskupová, perform not just gospels but also vocal jazz arrangements. FESTIVAL:THE AQUILA falconry troupe from Bojnice presents, in cooperation with the Locus historical troupe and the Slovak National Museum, the 20th International Festival of Ghosts and Spirits, which includes a fire show and a demonstration of a witch hunt, on May 1-5 (as well as the weekends of May 12-13 and 19-20). Pagans believed that on the night of April 30, witches and supernatural forces gained special, magic powers. The show will take place in the open-air amphitheatre by Bojnice Castle from 9:00-18:00. LIVE MUSIC: Music Club – La3no sessions – The La3no Cubano band, consisting of Slovak musicians playing ethno and world music, will perform with Tomáš Hafner, Milo Suchomel and Medial Banana, with the Jamadan band playing African rhythms and the Transglobal Refugees Crew from Congo, which includes two dancing singers and a percussionist.

BRATISLAVA FEAST: Bratis-lavský majáles / The Bratisla-va Feast celebrating the 1st of May features a host of events over three days, including discussions; Slovak bands like Zlokot, Vec, Zóna A, Hex, Polemic and others, legendary Czech singer Dan Bárta (on Saturday), Iranian Ashtee Ensemble (on Sunday at 17:00); as well as a bicycle ride, a boat connection across the Danube, fireworks and more.

EXHIBITION: Sivá zóna / Grey Zone – Slovak artist Pavla Sceranková, along with Hungarian and Romanian artists Péter Puklus and Mihut Boscu, respectively, attempt to map the “borderline, an intermedial situation in which things cannot be clearly defined”, curator Zita Sárvári said. Their works include art objects, photographs and videos.
