DANCE: THE KOREA National Day will be celebrated with a unique performance of a traditional Korean dance by the Son Kyung-soon Yaejeon company on October 1 at 18:30 in the Drama Hall of the new building of the Slovak National Theatre on Pribinova 17 in Bratislava. The event shall mark the national holiday as well as the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Slovakia. More information can be obtained at amb@rokembassy.sk.

FESTIVAL: THE BARBAKAN multimedia festival’s 19th edition offers movies, music and art exhibitions at various sites in Banská Bystrica, between October 3 and 6. Films will be divided into three sections: Domestic Harvest, Echoes of Foreign Festivals and Backstage; and musical guests include The Boxettes (UK), Nat Osborn Band (US), Wattican Punk Ballet (AM), Plastic Swans, Emonoizboyz and AMO (all Slovak). JAZZ FESTIVAL: The XIX International Jazz Festival – This jazz festival in Košice, the second-oldest in Slovakia, presents a dialogue between different cultures, social and ethnic groups, and genres. This edition features bands and musicians from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria, as well as Slovak band Finally, featuring former Earth, Wind & Fire member Sheldon Reynolds.

ART FESTIVAL: Triennial of Contemporary Image Košice (TRIKO) 2013 – This project presents contemporary visual art in several sites in the European Capital of Culture 2013 (ECOC), dividing the genres into mainly photos and installations (Kunsthalle / Hall of Art), video-art (Barracks / Culture Park) and paintings (East Slovakia Museum). A host of accompanying events round out the project, which is one of the core events of Košice’s year as ECOC.
