BALLET: WORLD-RENOWNED Eifman ballet of the Mecca of Russian ballet art, St. Petersburg, makes two stops in the Slovak National Theatre (SND) in Bratislava, on October 21 and 22, with its new piece, Rodin. Rodin explores (to the music of Maurice Ravel, Camille Saint-Saens and Jules Massenet, as choreographed and directed by the ensemble’s leader Boris Eifman) the fatal relationship of two great personalities of French visual art: sculptor August Rodin and his student, companion and inspiration Camille Claudel through modern means of expression, combining traditional mastery and widely understandable emotions. FILM FESTIVAL: Filmový festival inakosti / Slovak queer film festival – The festival of films focusing on the LGBTI community, its history and current situation, comprises dozens of screenings – plus an exhibition on the life and fate of activist Imrich Matyáš who fought for the de-criminalisation of homosexuality shortly after World War I.

EXHIBITION: ROBERT Bielik, the Slovak painter who rose to fame quite recently, exhibits in the Galéria u Anjela / the Angel Gallery in Starý Trh 53 in Kežmarok. His paintings are inspired by the nearby High Tatras and the personality of cult Slovak landscapist, Ladislav Mednyánszky. FASHION: Košice Fashion Week – Košice is the only city in Slovakia where the fashion week is part of the world-wide Fashion Week activities, comprising shows by Slovak, Czech, Polish, Hungarian and Ukrainian designers, including names like Beata Rajská or Jitka Klett, a gala dinner, a competition of young Slovak designers, and more. The proceeds will go to the prevention of and vaccination against cervical cancer.
