DANCE: Fragments is the latest contemporary dance performance of Slovak dancers living in Belgium and creating as the Les SlovaKs Dance Collective (Milan Herich, Anton Lachký, Milan Tomášik, Peter Jaško, and Martin Kilvady). This piece, choreographed and directed by them to original music by Simon Thierrée, performed by 40 string musicians, is a lively mix of film scenes, dance etudes and drama acts, which tries to deliver obscure, subtle messages. It will be offered at the historical building of the Slovak National Theatre (SND) in Hviezdoslavovo Square 1 in Bratislava on November 15 at 19:00; tickets cost €10-€20 and can be bought via www.snd.sk.

OPERA: Salome – The opera by Richard Strauss, a musical drama in one act in the German language, will premiere at the Slovak National Theatre (SND) as conducted by Fried-rich Haider, directed by Hans-Joachim Rückhaberle, with casting Ján Vacík, Denisa Hamarová, Pavol Remenár, Tomáš Juhász and others.

CLASSICAL MUSIC: Rolling Tones Veni Academy 2014 – Veni Academy is an ensemble of students performing modern and less-known classical music. This concert is the culmination of a series launching their first album, Rolling Tones, which won the Radio Head Award in 2013 as The Best Classical Album of the Year. OPERA: F.-A. Boieldieu: Exiles of Kamchatka / Vyhnanci z Kamčatky – Within the Days of Early Music 2014, the opera of French composer of the post-Napoleonic period, Francois-Adrien Boieldieu, will be premiered for the first time in the modern era, performed by the Festival Orchestra Apollo, and Lúčnica choir, as conducted by Marián Lejava, with Bernhard Berchtold, Linda Ballová, Zoltán Megyesi, and others as soloists. The opera tells the story of Slovak adventurer Moric Benyovszky’s escape with fellow prisoners from Siberian imprisonment.

WINE FESTIVAL: Day of Open Wine Cellars / Deň otvorených pivníc – On these days, a record 164 wine cellars will be opened on the Small Carpathian Wine Route (MVC), from Devín, Vajnory, Rača in Bratislava, through Svätý Jur, Pezinok and Modra all the way to Trnava. Visitors get a wine pass, their own tasting glass and wander through the region to enjoy local wines and gastronomy, traditional music and views of the vineyards.
