The Fugees concert postponed
THE BRATISLAVA concert of the world famous band The Fugees, which was scheduled for November 29, was postponed until December 22. The band's whole European tour timetable was changed due to organizational problems.
One of the group's members, Wyclef Jean, who resides in the USA but has kept his Haitian citizenship, did not get a visa on time. The pre-Christmas concert in Bratislava closes The Fugees European Tour.

En-Knap comes to Žilina station
ONE of the world's most progressive dance companies, En-Knap, comes to Žilina-Záriečie Station culture centre within IsoverTheatre series. The inter-national creative ensemble will hold two dance performances and present a film show between December 9 and 11.
"En-Knap's performances are the biggest event in the Station's 2005 programme," said the centre's director, Marek Adamov.
Slovenian choreographer and dancer Iztok Kováč founded En-Knap in Belgium in 1993. In 1994 they moved to Ljubljana. They publish professional works, make dance films, run workshops, support dancers throughout Slovenia. Their ingenious performances bring Slovenia to the world's stages.

Tatra banka honours artists
FILM star Ornella Muti was the highlight of an annual awards banquet sponsored by Tatra banka, which took place on November 26 at the Slovak National Theatre.
The 2005 Tatra Banka Prize for Art - a glass pyramid and a financial grant of Sk150,000 (€4,000) - went to four artists. Actor Karol Machata received it for his life's work; documentary director Pavol Barabáš for his film Amazonia Vertical, which won the Creative Achievement of the Year; Martin Šulík and Martin Štrba were acknowledged for their contribution to Slovak cinema.
The public can watch the gala evening, entitled Cinema Opera, on TV Markíza on December 10 at 17:50.
Slovak nativity scene in Rome
SALA del Bramante in Rome's historical centre opened an annual international Christmas event, 100 Presepi: Exhibition of Nativity Scenes. Among the 20 countries participating at the exhibition until January 8, visitors will also find works by Slovak craftsmen.
Slovak pianist succeeds again
JAKUB Čižmarovič won the Premio Internazionale di interpretazione pianistica Giuliano Pecar award in the Italian town of Gorizia. He was one of 37 participants from around the world who competed for the prize, the daily SME reported.
In 2001 the young Slovak pianist living abroad won the Grand Prix in Nagano, Japan. In response to his 2004 album recorded for BMG, Arte Nova, the critics called him the best talent of the generation.
In summer 2006, Čižmarovič will be the first Slovak pianist to perform with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. A Bratislava audience will hear him play on January 12, 2006, as a soloist accompanied by the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra playing Gustav Brahms' Concert 1 D Major.
