Days of Slovak literature festival held in Bratislava

THE ZERO year of the biggest literary festival called Days of Slovak literature started in Bratislava on October 15. During the four days the festival offers in total 92 happenings introducing 146 authors and illustrators, as well as musicians, dozens of presenters and other performers, the TASR newswire reported.

THE ZERO year of the biggest literary festival called Days of Slovak literature started in Bratislava on October 15. During the four days the festival offers in total 92 happenings introducing 146 authors and illustrators, as well as musicians, dozens of presenters and other performers, the TASR newswire reported.

The main aim of the event is to increase the interest of the public in original Slovak literary productions, to create room for meetings of authors and readers, to enrich the literary life of the capital and to focus the attention of the audience to specific book titles that are available in the book network, TASR wrote.

During the festival, Slovak authors will present their work at various sites in Bratislava, including libraries, schools and theatres; as well as in the Old Town Hall, V-club, A4 zero space, the Slovak National Gallery and Zichy Palace. It will open on October 15 at 19:00 in the Chamber Studio of the Slovak Radio on Mýtna Street. The opening ceremony will be attended by Pacora Trio, composed of musicians Stanislav Palúch, Marcel Comendant and Róbert Ragan, as well as publicist Michal Havran who will hold discussions with writers. It will be broadcast live at Rádio Devín, TASR wrote.

Moreover, there will be an exhibition of photographs by famous Slovak-Italian photographer Lucia Gardin called Faces of Slovak Literature held in the foyer of the Slovak Radio.

The festival is organised by the Literary Information Centre, the Association of Organisations of Writers in Slovakia and the Association of Slovak Writers, and held under the auspices of the Culture Ministry.
