The festival, which takes place between September 22 and 28, is intended for design insiders and fans, but its organisers, the punkt civic association (oz punkt), also aim to show the latest fashion developments and to cross over into other spheres and genres of art in an attempt to appeal to the wider public.

The festival’s main base will be at Laurinská 14, but many events will spill over into other venues in downtown Bratislava, like the Phi-losophical Faculty of Come-nius University, the Slovak National Gallery and the KC Dunaj club. The September edition of the Visegrad Market series is situated, as usual, in the Old Market Hall on SNP Square 25.

Design Week also inclu-des events that are loosely connected to design, like a workshop in calligraphy, so it is advisable to check for more details at the bratislavadesignweek.sk website, also in English.

The In the Middle Design Forum will, for the second time, attract foreign talents and established names, like Britain’s Benjamin Hubert, Swiss Florian Hauswirth, progressive Czech OKOLO, unconventional Berlin-based duo Llot Llov, Spanish “social designer” Cuuro Claret, and other Czech teams like deForm, Belka, Design SUPERMARKET, Ventolín, Tomino a Myslivec, Ateliér produkt-ového designu Zlín and more.

On September 27 and 28, the Visegrad Market in the Old Market Hall will present more than 40 Czech brands, and on Saturday will be enhanced with Designsupermarket Night in the neighbouring KC Dunaj. On Saturday, between 19:00 and 23:00, the Late Night Shopping event will be offered, while on Sunday, Daily Shopping will take place between 10:00 and 19:00.
