Eva Nová, directed by Marko Škop, was selected from a group of eight feature films: Wilsonov (directed by T. Mašín), Čistič/Cleaner (P. Bebjak), Eva Nová (M. Škop), Vojtech (V. Csudai), Johankino tajomstvo / Johanka’s Secret (J. Nvota), Červený kapitán / Red Captain (M. Kollár), Agáva / Agave (O. Šulaj) and Stanko (R. Boroš).

There were six documentaries proposed for selection, the TASR newswire wrote on May 15: Rytmus sídliskový sen / Rytmus - A Dream from the Block (directed by M. Drobný), Farby piesku / Colours of Sand (Ladislav Kaboš), Očami fotografky / Through the Eyes of a Photographer (M. Mináč), Anton Srholec (A. Čermáková), Čakáreň / Waiting Room (P. Korec) and Ťažká voľba / Difficult Choice (Z. Piussi).
The SFTA presidium, composed of nine members, confirmed the majority opinion of all academics and announced the results.
A film premiered after July 1, 2015, which is European and has been distributed publicly can be nominated for the award. Documentaries have to be at least 70 minutes long, TASR wrote.
The 29-th gala ceremony of the EFA will take place on December 10, 2016 in Wroclaw.
