The legendary funk group, Earth Wind And Fire, featuring the Al McKay Allstars, arrives in Bratislava to play songs from its latest CD, Illumination. The fourteen-member ensemble also plays and sings its biggest funk hits of the 1970s and 1980s, including September, Sing a Song and Fantasy. The Ján Koniarek Gallery in Trnavamarks the 80th birthday of Oskár Čepan (1925-1992) with an exhibition introducing this important literary theoretician, historian and visual artist. Nowadays his name is connected with an annual prize awarded to young artists in Slovakia. Čepan was one of the crucial personalities of his generation, who helped to change the cultural life and art scene in Slovakia. In the 1960s his name was linked to Bratislava's visual arts movement Konfrontácie (Confrontations), known for its links to French structural abstraction. He is also known as a man who helped to introduce the ideas of some important personalities of the Russian avant-garde, such as Kazimir Malevich, Vladimir Tatlinin, Vassily Kandinsky and Sergei Charchoun, into Slovakia. The Artist Oskár Čepanexhibition particularly focuses on presenting the artist as a creator of collages and geometrical abstraction. The display takes place in Kopplov Kaštieľ (The Koppel Manor House) of the Ján Koniarek Gallery at Zelený kríček 3.
