Simple Minds, one of the most successful British bands, arrives in Bratislava on March 30 as part of its Black & White European tour. During its 25 years on stage, the Scottish band has sold over 30 million albums and played in the biggest arenas around the world. In the late 1980s it pioneered the new wave music style, which is currently experiencing a revival. After a break of several years, the band released a new album last year, Black & White 050505. Czech Ensemble Damian and Chorus Mauritiensis will perform the opera Endymio in Trnava on April 2, starting at 19:00. The Baroque libretto of the opera dates back to 1727 but since the original music of the opera was lost, director Tomáš Hanzlík took inspiration from the musical life of the piaristic seminaries of the 17th and the 18th centuries. The opera was first performed in the Kroměříž castle in the Czech Republic and tells the story of a handsome young man, Endymio, who prefers eternal sleep to love.
