BRATISLAVA
THE WORK of the popular Viennese architect Otto Wagner can be seen in photographs taken by Walter Zednicek currently being exhibited at the Austrian Culture Forum. The famous Austrian architect lived and worked at the turn of the last century. His best known projects are Vienna's City Circuit, Am Steinhof Church, and the Postal Savings Office. The photographs reveal his work's essential aspects to the observer by penetrating into their interiors. The Rakúske kultúrne fórum (Austrian Cultural Forum) can be found at Zelená 7 in Bratislava and is open from Monday to Thursday from 10:00 to 18:00, and on Friday from 10:00 to 16:00. A CONCERT celebrating The Year of Czech Music will take place at the House of Arts in the eastern Slovak city of Košice. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of revered Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, the year 2004 has been declared The Year of Czech Music by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). Therefore, classical concerts around the globe this year will focus on interpreting Czech composers. The upcoming concert in Košice will start on January 22 at 19:00. Czech violoncellist Jiří Hanousek, accompanied by the Košice State Philharmonic (ŠFK) and under the baton of Jerzy Swoboda from Poland, will perform Dvořák as well as Richard Wagner and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
