By music terms, Bratislava reaches at least the European average. The BeeFree party, which will be dee-jayed by three aces of their trade: John Acquaviva, Terry Francis and Nathan Coles, is another proof of this. The master of progressive house, Acquaviva, will highlight the grandiose party taking place in the Incheba Expo Arena on May 7. Canadian by origin, he has dee-jayed since the late 1970s and now is regarded as one of the world's most innovative DJs. Acquaviva will be joined at the party by local DJs Fester, Pico and Titan. The 51st Košice Music Spring Festival that opens on May 4 commemorates the 250th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's birth and the Year of Slovak Music. The event will start with the premiere of composer Norbert Bodnár's Apeiron and will include works by Mozart almost daily. On May 11, the Košice State Philharmonic orchestra and Slovak choir Collegium Technicum will present the maestro's Symphony No. 25 in G Minor and Great Mass in C Minor. Visitors can look forward to hearing Shéhérazade, a set of musical gems by Maurice Ravel, and Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky on May 18, as well as early and modern music works by Solamente Naturali, featuring English flutist Marten Root on May 16. Among other international guests on stage, the festival hosts the Miskolc Symphony Orchestra playing works by Béla Bartók, and the Košice Hungarian national choir with Nemzeti Filharmonikus Énekkar philharmonic orchestra closing the event with Carmina Burana by Carl Orff on May 25.
