THE CONTROVERSIAL German band Rammstein arrives in Bratislava to promote its latest CD, Reise, Reise. The band, singing exclusively in German, will put on a huge show full of electronic and fire effects. In its music the band uses elements that symbolize totalitarian ideologies - the cult of the body as well as the power of propaganda. Apocalyptica, the Finnish band that plays metal style music on classical instruments, will support the German stars. The concert starts February 28 at 20:00 at Incheba, Hall C, Viedenská cesta 7. Tickets cost Sk990 to Sk2,190. Tel: 0904/666-363.

The display presents 44 anonymous portraits of Jewish women as well as excerpts from texts by Charlotte Delbo to Adolf Hitler. There are images of sisters, friends and young mothers. Some are of women whose lives are just about to be lost. Ross' book is a narrative of Jewish women's experiences under the Nazis. The pictures - each one black and white, each one cast in different shadows - are evocative and mesmerizing. The exhibition takes place at Dom fotografie (House of Photography) at Námestie sv Egídia 3633/44, in Poprad. It is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 until April 3. Tickets costs Sk10.
