SEAL, the "velvet voice" of world pop, will perform in Bratislava on April 18. The concert by the British singer of hits such as Kiss From A Rose and Killer is part of his world tour to promote his CD Best: 1991-2004. The charismatic star emerged from England's house music scene in the early 1990s to become the most popular British soul vocalist of the decade. Before beginning his singing career, Seal studied architecture and worked in electrical engineering. The concert starts April 18 at 20:00 at Incheba, Expo Arena, Viedenská cesta 7. CENTRAL SLOVAKIA
PAINTER and writer Karim Chaibi, an American born in Tunis, presents his colourful paintings in an exhibition, Soul. His works are poetical and contain mystical secrets, which is also true of his short stories. Chaibi was raised in a traditional Islamic milieu though as a child he attended the French Jesuit school. A graduate of the Zitouna Islamic Theological Faculty, he taught himself to paint as an adult when he began to travel the world. Karim lived and worked in the United States, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and currently lives in Slovakia, along with his spouse and their three children. The exhibition takes place at Galéria Merum (Merum Gallery) at Štúrova 108, Modra. It is open daily between 15:00 and 18:00 until May 8. Tel: 02/5478-9416.
