BRATISLAVA

AMERICAN singer Anastacia, "a little woman with a big voice", will call in to Bratislava on August 7 as part of her European tour. The blonde star is one of the hottest acts around at the moment. Her third album, simply entitled Anastacia, has sold so well it puts her second on the European album sales charts. The concert takes place at the Artmedia football stadium in Petržalka at 20:00. WESTERN SLOVAKIA

TERCHOVÁ, a distinctive village nestled in central Slovakia, will host a folk dance and music festival, Jánošíkove dni (Jánošík Days), between August 4 and 7. It is named after Jánošík, a legendary hero, who was reportedly born in this village. Apart from Slovak ensembles, the 43rd annual festival will also welcome foreign performers. The list, among others, includes Latvian Cesis Castle Choir and Sadancis, Czech Ida Kelarová and Slovak Terchovská muzika Vila Mešku, Družina, Zlaté husle and Nebeská Muzika. Presentation of Terchová in visual arts and wooden sculptures by Vilo Meško will accompany the event. A one-day ticket costs Sk150, a ticket for the whole festival costs Sk200. The festival takes place at the local amphitheatre of Terchová and enclosed premises. For more information call 041/5695-129.
