OUTSIDE THE CAPITAL
After 350 years Polish crown jewels have been brought again to Stará Ľubovňa. This time, however, the aim is not to guard them from the enemy but to display them in an exhibition. The original jewels, including a crown, sceptre and orb, were transported from the treasury in Waweli to Ľubovňa castle after Sweden invaded Poland in 1655. The castle housed them for six years. At the beginning of the 19th century the jewellery was disassembled. The current jewels are replicas of the originals and are on display in the castle's chapel every day between 9:00 and 18:00 until September 30. Tickets cost Sk80. For more information call 052/4322-422.
