THE SLOVAK National Gallery is tracing the history of Slovakia's leading artists by exhibiting their works. As part of that programme, the gallery is presenting an extensive collection of "touching allowed" sculptures by Mária Bartuszová. Bartuszová (1936-1996) represents the "organic line" in Slovak sculpture in the latter part of the 20th century. The gallery is suspending its ban on touching to let visitors physically appreciate the sculptor's intent. The exhibition also includes tactile sculptures for the blind. The Bartuszová exhibition is being held at the recently reconstructed Esterházy Palace on Námestie Ľ Štúra 4. The gallery is open daily except Mondays between 10:00 and 17:30 until October 2. Tickets cost Sk80. For more information call 02/5443-4587.
