LAMAČ, a district of Bratislava, celebrates the feast day of Rozália, the patroness of St Rozália church. The Feast of Rozália opens Friday, September 2 at 16:00 on Malokarpatské námestie, the event's main venue. Over the three-day event, the town will offer visitors a Friday jamboree, a Saturday market and a ceremonial holy mass on Sunday, followed by folk and pop performances. The Saturday market will feature traditional foods, handicrafts, football matches and a bryndzové halušky eating contest. Tel: 02/6478-1581.

BRATISLAVA

OPEN HOUSE: Slovak Television - The national Slovak television station, STV, throws open its doors for its first open house, during which the public will be able to meet the famous faces on TV. (STV also opens its doors at its regional studios in Banská Bystrica and Košice.)

OPENING: Apollo Bridge - Pedestrians will have one chance to walk the Apollo Bridge, Bratislava's newest bridge over the Danube, on September 4 at a ceremonial opening accompanied by cultural programmes and culminating in fireworks at 20:30.

OUTSIDE THE CAPITAL

FEMAN, a European cultural festival of nations and nationalities, brings the European cultural medley into towns and villages of Eastern Slovakia. The 6th annual event starts August 30, featuring a blend of musicians, dancers and artists from almost 20 European countries. The mostly open-air performances will take place the streets of Košice and in surrounding villages through September 4. The concluding gala, Culture Without Borders: Concert for Srebrenica, will present the festival's best performances on September 3 at 19:00 in Dom umenia (the House of Arts) in Košice.
