Her works include still lives, landscapes, natural motifs as well as figural compositions. The exhibition takes place in the Bratislava City Gallery's Mirbach Palace at Františkánske námestie 11. Tickets cost Sk60. The display is open daily except Mondays between 11:00 and 18:00 until January 29. For more information call 02/5443-1556.

The oldest painting in Rožňava, Metercia, dating back to 1513 was examined using X-ray technology. The local Mining Museum now displays its results. Metercia depicts a holy theme with Jesus and St Anna, but the backgrounds give a valuable picture of mining and the everyday life of common people in the region at that time. It is a classical altar picture painted in the late gothic style. The original hangs in the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Rožňava. The Mining Museum exhibits its copy of the painting with texts accompanying the examination process display. The painter remains unidentified. The picture bears the initials Master LA, but examinations in 1987 proved that these are more recent than the painting itself. Miners commissioned the painting in tribute to their patron, St Anna. The Mining Museum's Gallery of Fine Arts is situated at Námestie baníkov 25, Rožňava. The display is open Mon-Fri 8:00-16:30 and on Saturdays between 8:00-13:00 until December 22. Tickets cost Sk10. For more information call 058/ 7343-710.

The Ján Koniarek Gallery (GJK) in Trnava and Považská Galéria Umenia (PGU) in Žilina celebrate their 30th anniversaries next year. To mark this event the Trnava gallery hosts two exhibitions from collections from the Žilina gallery. All the works come from the second half of the 20th century. The Time-space Sculpture exhibition in the Koppel House at Zelený kríček 3 features sculptures by prominent Slovak artists such as Juraj Bartusz, Jozef Jankovič, Vladimír Kompánek, Andrej Rudavský and Rudolf Uher. It connects the art of the late 20th century with that of Ján Koniarek, the founder of modern Slovak sculpture, who lived and worked in the first half of the 20th century. The second display takes place at the Trnava Synagogue - Centre of Contemporary Art at Halenárska. Entitled PGU Sampler it showcases works from the 1980s and the 1990s created in new media by artists such as Pavlína Fichta Čierna, Július Koller, Denisa Lehocká, Peter Meluzin, Karol Pichler, Peter Rónai, Tomáš Ruller, Rudolf Sikora and Jana Želibská. The exhibitions are open Tue-Fri 9:00-17:00, Sat-Sun 14:00-18:00 (the Synagogue is closed between 12:00 and 13:00) until January 15. Tickets cost Sk20. For more information call 033/5514-657.
