The Centre of Folk Art Production (ÚĽUV) in Bratislava presents the Wooden World of Peter Zoričák, an exhibition of over 160 wooden sculptures and other carvings. Zoričák is an artist with a distinctive talent, who borrows not only folk topics and elements, but also methods, such as simplification and the use of folk elements as part of an artist's statement and atmosphere. The exhibition is in the gallery at Obchodná 64 and concludes on October 7. It is open every day, except Sunday and Monday, between 12:00 and 18:00. It is also open Saturday between 10:00 and 14:00. The eastern Slovak city of Košice will swirl with jazz during the 12th International Jazz Festival between September 27 and 29. The three-day festival features Czech, Hungarian and Polish jazzmen, with headliners such as Slovak jazz legend the Peter Lipa Band, the versatile Czech singer Dan Bárta and the Robert Balzar Trio. The first day of the festival will feature the Slovak Stage Meridian, the Luboš Šrámek Quintet and Polish formation the Zbigniew Jakubek Quartet. On Thursday, jazz fans can listen to the Slovak duo of prominent saxophonist Radovan Tariška and keyboardist Ondro Krajňák, the Czech-Slovak Opatovský Swing & Latin Band and the band of jazz singer Peter Lipa. On Friday, the festival will culminate with a performance by the Hungarian Brezó Quartet, the America-Polish-Hungarian Steve Logan Trio and the Dan Bárta & Robert Balzar bands.
