FESTIVAL: Festival hudby a Slávnosť ruží 2016/ Music Festival and the Festival of Roses 2016. This is already the ninth two-day Festival of roses in honor of Mária Henrieta Choteková, rose grower and founder of the rose garden in Dolná Krupá from the early 20th century. “The rose weekend” will be full of beauty, music and fragrances. Visitors can experience thousands of roses, a rich programme, music, poetry, mead and much more including the Hatchet evening festival of folk music and singing coupled with open-air festivities. CLASSICAL MUSIC: Janáčkov komorný orchester (CZ)/ Janáček Chamber Orchestra - The event will take place in the context of Musica Sacra - The 26th year of this international musical festival of sacred music - Musica Sacra will also present world premieres and it will last until July 3. GASTRONOMY: Pikniková Vegánska nedeľa, komunitná večera - Vegan Picnic Sunday, community dinner - Vegan Sundays take place once a month and each one has its own epithet (leguminous, Indian, Traditional, Christmas). This one is related to International Picnic Day. The entry is free, however participants can leave a voluntary contribution by which the organisers cover the costs of raw materials. They make sure that on the table will always be something. Active involvement is welcome. OPERA: Macbeth - Macbeth is the tenth opera by Guiseppe Verdi in a row, where he firstly tuned a libretto according to Shakespeare’s work. Its premiere was in 1847. Verdi's Macbeth was created in his image of devastatingly destructive couple: Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are two wretched creatures and their relationship is a combination of caricature of marriage and power struggle. Libretto was created by Franceso Maria Piave, music is rehearsed and led by Marián Vach, directed by Peter Gábor, choirmaster is Iveta Popovičová. FESTIVAL: Use the c!ty - The eighth year in a row of the festival Use of the c!ty will lead the inhabitants of Košice from the Barracks / Culturepark to the huge bunker, to the knitted tram, at the Old Town bench built by neighbours, to the designer Market with Tabačka, to a discussion about the involvement of public affairs, to hip-hop workshops and also to the world of robots. Together it is seven days of 17 events held in three trams. Slovak Matej Vakula, the artist who at this time lives in New York together with informal group Wuppertálska will try to create and devise unusual solutions to public spaces. EXHIBITION: Femme Fatale - The exhibition Femme Fatale curated by Peter Markovič presents a motif of a woman in the Eastern fine arts from the early 20th century until the present in the creation of 49 artists. The thematic project is divided into five separate units, reflecting the development of topics which are related to the perception of women, culture or traditions.
