OUTDOOR: Slnovrat na Dunaji/ The Solstice on the Danube - More than forty events from Devín to Štúrovo, including on the Little Danube, will be part of The Solstice on the Danube. Organisers have prepared boating, rafting, sports competitions, children's programs and cultural and environmental events. It will be also possible to visit shipyards and harbours, exhibitions, screenings and learn about the natural heritage of the area. FESTIVAL: Dolce Vitaj/ Sweet life or Dolce Welcome – Slovakia will welcome the ninth year of the event Dolce Vitaj this month, bringing the greatest attractions from Italian culture and gastronomy. Original architecture and design, concerts, theatres, movies and also traditional Italian delicacies come to Bratislava. After the success of previous years also the feast of Italian wine Vino Vitaj/ Wine Welcome is returning to Bratislava and will be held in the streets of the Old Town on June 16th. FESTIVAL: Bratislava Design Week – The fourth year of this selective international festival will again be an intense festival of contemporary design. Topic of this year is "The Road"; the road in terms of searching, inspiration, growing up, discovery, transformation, adventure or experiment. Significant guest of the event will be respected Jerszy Seymour, one of the most prolific contemporary designers. FESTIVAL: Víkend otvorených parkov a záhrad/ Weekend of open parks and gardens–This event gives people the opportunity to get to know favourite places of garden art in Slovakia in a new way or insight into commonly accessible parks and gardens. FESTIVAL: Hidden Places - This festival was created in cooperation with Weekend of open parks and gardens and it should be a platform for the presentation of contemporary art in public spaces. Hidden Places Festival has an ambition to become a celebration of cultural parks, including various activities such as authors reading or picnics. This year the festival takes place in the Prugerova Garden. Special guest of the festival will be German artist from Stuttgard Martin Pfeifle who studied at Kunstakademie of Dusseldorf and he will devote a site-specific installation. THEATRE FESTIVAL: Istropolitana Project 2016 – 21st international festival of theatre universities. On the stages of five theatres in Bratislava will perform eighteen ensembles of young actors with their competitive performances. Students of theatres will come out not only on stages but also to the streets of the capital. Visitors can see a mass 90-minute parade of actors accompanied by drums. Every day in different theatres will be three performances from different countries. 18 theatre ensembles will be assessed by a 14-member student jury who will choose a winner at the end of festival and award a Raven prize in five categories. JAZZ FESTIVAL: One Day Jazz Festival 2016 - The event returns with its Spring-Summer edition. For the first time in its history it will be held as an open-air festival. Additionally it will be present in three other Slovak towns. One of the performers is a world-renowned bass player, , singer and songwriter Avishai Cohen from Israel. He will present also his new trio accompanied by the symphony orchestra of the Brno Philharmonic led by Bastien Still from France. BALLET: Le Corsaire – Adolphe Charles Adam – The ballet, written by Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges, and composed by Adam is a masterpiece of the Romantic era of ballet; choreographed and directed by Vasilij Medvedev and connected with the heyday of classical Russian ballet. EXHIBITION: 90 Retrospektíva/ 90 Flashback –The exhibition of photographer Karol Kállay(1926-2012) is a selection of his life-long creations (1926-2012) on the occasion of his 90th birthday. Karol Kallay brought to Slovakia a part of the world when traveling to Western countries and was very problematic according to curator Marián Pauer. The exhibition consists of one hundred black and white photographs divided into different rooms by country, including from Slovakia, Italy, USA, France, Russia, Mexico; as well as fashion photography.
