CONCERT: Foals - An English indie rock band from Oxford who formed in 2005 and debuted in 2007 and like the Muse or Coldplay they created their own sound titled broad-rock based on a balanced ratio of guitar lines and electronics. The way in which these two components are mixed in their songs made them different from the other groups. The Foals have recently filled up the London Wembley Arena and they released albums: Antidotes (2008), Total Life Forever (2010), Holy Fire (2013), What Went Down (2015). CLASSICAL MUSIC: Barber, Schubert - The last concert of the season takes place within A Night of Music. The performers of concert are Slovak Chamber Orchestra and Slovak Philharmonic Choir, Marianna Gelenekyová (soprano), Ivan Rychlo (tenor) and Andrej-Marek Kanja (basso). BALLET: Le Corsaire – Adolphe Charles Adam – The ballet, written by Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges, and composed by Adam is a masterpiece of the Romantic era of ballet; choreographed and directed by Vasilij Medvedev and connected with the heyday of classical Russian ballet. The version staged in the Slovak National Theatre is inspired by the version of legendary Marius Petip and staged by Vasily Medvedev. Starts: Jun 19, 17:00; new SND building, Pribinova 17. CLASSICAL MUSIC: Solamente naturali in SNG / Flauta Ultimi - Internationally renowned instrumentalist and composer Jan Rokyta will present in the new programme together with Solamente naturali a wide variety of various recorders and folk flutes in the musical context of their creation and termination - songs spanning the 15th to 20th centuries in connection with improvisation and extending into contemporary music. CONCERT: Pán prsteňov - Spoločenstvo prsteňa/ The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring - The Legend of the Ring comes to life by film screening on a big movie screen, accompanied by a 250-member Philharmonic Orchestra, the 100-member corp and international soloists. A composer Howard Shore revived literary works of J. R. R. Tolkien through his soundtrack for the film Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring which won Academy and also Grammy Award. A wide range of Shores music requires symphony orchestra, mixed choir, boys' choir and instrumental and vocal soloists singing in Tolkien languages Quenya, Sindarin, Khuzdul, Adûnaic, Black Speech of Mordor but of course also in english. BALLET: Carmen à la Gypsy Devils - A dance drama about the passionate, true love of a beautiful and untamed gypsy girl – a famous love story which is not short on romantic intertwining and passionate emotion, a story of jealousy that inevitably leads to a tragic death. This timeless story comes to life in rousing dance with a mixture of Spanish and gypsy temperaments. Georges Bizet’s romantic melodies abound in an original musical adaptation by Ernest Šarközi, the leading personalities of Cigánski diabli (The Gypsy Devils), one of the best orchestras in the category of ethnic and world music in the world. This original work in which folklore with other musical genres are masterfully combined (jazz, ethno, flamenco) is complemented by the exceptional virtuosity, which is an essential part of Cigánski diabli’s artistic expression. The ballet is choreographed by Ladislav Cmorej, The Gypsy Devils Orchestra consists of Silvia Šarköziová, Ivan Martiš, Miroslav Martinovič and Natália Némethová. OUTDOOR: Slnovrat na Dunaji/ The Solstice on the Danube - More than forty events from Devín to Štúrovo, including on the Little Danube, will be part of The Solstice on the Danube. Organisers have prepared boating, rafting, sports competitions, children's programs and cultural and environmental events. It will be also possible to visit shipyards and harbours, exhibitions, screenings and learn about the natural heritage of the area. The programme of the first year of the event has already started in early June and will continue until the first weekend in July. Starts: throughout June; various places. FESTIVAL: Dolce Vitaj/ Sweet life or Dolce Welcome – Slovakia will welcome the ninth year of the event Dolce Vitaj this month, bringing the greatest attractions from Italian culture and gastronomy. Original architecture and design, concerts, theatres, movies and also traditional Italian delicacies come to Bratislava. The day between 20th and 26th June visitors can await traditional Italian gastronomy and market Mercato Italiano in Hviezdoslavovo and Rybné Square. The whole week will offer typical Italian flavors. OUTDOOR: Magio pláž/ Magio Beach - This is the 10th time when visitors can enjoy music, dancing, sports, games, sunbathing and lovely view of Bratislava. They can wait on the right side of the Danube traditionally two beach volleyball courts and one court for beach football, table tennis, badminton, petanque or darts and sporting equipment rental. News are for example TV broadcasts from The Olympic Games, UEFA EURO 2016 or Tour de France on the six screens stationed on the beach, urban area with grill for preparing own food. 10th edition of beach will bring, among other things symbolic 10 concerts. ETNODANCE FESTIVAL: Deň indickej kultúry 2016/ IndiaDay 2016 - Through the festival of Indian culture visitors can become acquainted with the culture of distant and exotic India which will be on the reach. The program of the festival includes yoga practising, workshop nad lecture connected with make-up and tying the saree (a South Asian female garment), Indian cuisine and bazaar of clothes and accessories, Indian movie screening, dance workshop, evening show and others. FESTIVAL: Japonský letný festival/ Japan Summer Festival - The event taples place in the framework of Cultural Summer and Castle Festival 2016. The program starts with Tea ceremony under the rules of the school Omotesenke presented by Akiko „Somei“ Fuhrmann following by Demonstration of traditional clothes “kimono” and their dressing up. FESTIVAL OF NEW CIRCUS: Cirkul´Art 2016 - International event of contemporary theatre and circus connects theatre, acrobatics, circus and street arts in modern family events. MEETING: Day in nature – collecting plants, cooking, eating, learning + yoga - Event will be held in English. This day in nature is suitable for people who would like to spend a day in nature, cook, eat, exercise and find out more about the freshest, cheapest and lowest in fat food, which they maybe already know, but probably do not eat. The program comprises breakfast smoothies from herbs + oats, picking herbs in nature, interactive lecture about plants, cooking lunch (crackers, soup and warm vegetable salad) and much more including yoga. EXHIBITION: Inšpiratívne a kreatívne leto pre deti v Bibiane/ Inspiring and Creative Summer for Children in Bibiana - Four new exhibitions are prepared: Umenie záhrady/ The Art of The Garden (The exhibition will bring a piece of little-known history, where and why first gardens were created and how they have changed during the centuries), Živé mesto/ The Living city (Children will watch the “bowels” of the city and learn how the the whole city does it work), Kuk na Zvuk /Peekaboo at the Sound (Discovering facts and curiosities about the acoustics is the main mission of this small but interesting interactive exhibition), Európske rozprávky/ European Tales (The exhibition points out similarities among the different cultures and common basis of European culture). EXHIBITION: Dedičstvo Karola Veľkého/ Heritage of Charles the Great - The exhibition covers the period of the early Middle Ages as one of the milestones for the development of contemporary European cultural identity and it tries to apply the concept of 'unity in diversity' which is the motto of the European Union since 2000. EXHIBITION: Viva Italia! - The exhibitions consist of the works with museum value including 98 Italian artists, such as: Mimmo Paladino, Sandro Chia, Enzo Cucchi, Alighiero Boetti, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Mimmo Rotella, Emilio Isgrò, Mario Schifano, Franco Angeli, Roberto Crippa, Enrico Baj, Nanni Balestrini, Guglielmo Cavellini, Zoran Music and Franco Vaccari. Exposure is one of the most important artistic events realised in Slovakia in recent years. This selection curated by Laura Monaldi comes from the collection of Carlo Palli in Prato and it is also a representation of great passion. Mentioned archive consists of over 30,000 works, documents and testimonies, mainly concentrated on the artistic movements of the 1960s and 70s.
