CONCERT/ WORLD MUSIC: Družina/ Retinue - A group from Banská Bystrica, central Slovakia, has represented Slovakia in the category of world music for more than ten years and released three albums. The latest is titled “Neni dobre/ Not Good”. Members are: Danka Ferienčíková, Miťa Almášiová (vocals), Aty Béreš (bass guitar), Tomáš "Hollub" Krista (drums), Adam Mičinec (guitar, mandolin), Marek Konček (violin), Janko Šimiak (whistles, fujara). CONCERT/ALTERNATIVE INDIE ROCK: Dreamfield – This 5 piece Alternative Indie rock band from Trnava is performing all its songs in English. With influences brought all the way from the South African music scene, the singer upholds a part of the band’s sound. The band was established in 2010 and has been nominated for the Radio_Head Awards in 2015. CONCERT: El Moro - The group named Ťula bata alias El Moro plays and dances oriental inspired flamenco. Performers are:Igor Papan (violin), Oliver Kováč (guitar), Miro Nikulin (cajón) and Renata Gitana (vocals and dance). FESTIVAL/ CLASSICAL MUSIC: Konvergencie/ Convergence 2016 - International festival of chamber music comes to Slovakia for the 17th time. Visitors can await classics, genre overlaps, but also film screenings or a children's concert. In addition to the great Slovak musicians it will be possible to see and listen to world-known artists such as Isabelle van Keulen, Ilya Gringolts or Daniel Rowland. CLASSICAL MUSIC: Kronos Quartet - The ensemble Kronos Quartet belongs to the world’s most famous string quartets and performs as part of the Viva Musica! Festival 2016. During their more than 40 years of existence they have released more than 50 records, played thousands of concerts and sold more than 1,5 million albums. CONCERT: Italians, Virtuosi, and other gems through the centuries - The concert is held in the framework of the seventh year of the international event The Cathedral Organ Festival in Bratislava. Its programme includes world-known composers such as A. Valente, J.S. Bach, G. Caccini, C. Franck, P.Eben, L. Vierne or P. Yon. Performer of the event is the American musician David Di Fiore. LECTURE: Spoznaj podstatu mysle/ Discover the nature of mind - Dzogchen is the tradition of ancient teachings in Tibetan Buddhism. FESTIVAL OF ROMA CULTURE: Cigánsky bašavel/ Gipsy Bashavel - The eighth year of the international and multigenre festival comes to Bratislava again and brings Roma culture and art. The festival also gives an opportunity to talented Roma children associated with the organisation Divé maky/ Wild Poppies to perform there. Proceeds from the admission are assigned to them. RIDE: Nostalgické jazdy do Brezovej pod Bradom/ Nostalgic Rides to Brezová pod Bradlom - Visitors can join nostalgic rides by historical diesel train from Bratislava to Brezová pod Bradlom (Trenčín Region). Three rides are held during this year’s summer holiday. One of them brings passengers to the jubilee 25th year of Brezová fair full of crafts and local specialties. CINEMA: Únos Michela Houellebecqua/ L’enlèvement de Michel Houellebecq/ Kidnapping of Michel Houellebecq - Misanthropic comedy starring French author, filmmaker, and poet Michel Houellebecq moves somewhere between fiction and document. FESTIVAL: Uprising Reggae Festival - The ninth year of the festival comes to Slovakia and brings also one of the most significant voices from Jamaica - talented singer Konshens, who is a world-known musician since 2005. Uprising is the biggest Central European festival focused on Reggae. It includes various genres such as reggae, dancehall, ska, latino dubstep and others. Starts: Aug 26 - 27; Zlaté Piesky. FASHION EVENT: Móda a/ ako otroctvo/ Fashion and/ as Slavery - Visitors can learn more about the background of the fashion industry, modern slavery and what a charity does with donated things. The programme of the event includes a fashion show, a beneficiary auction of models and also a lecture and discussion. Starts: Aug 21, 15:00; Charity Garden, Kapitulská 18. EXHIBITION: Lode a prístavy poľského Baltiku/ of the Polish Baltik - The beauty of ships and ports, but also coast of the Baltic sea can be seen in the exhibition, which includes 56 paintings and informative posters and 15 big models of historical and current commercial and military ships. Highlights of the year

STAND-UP COMEDY: Bill Bailey (Black Books) - Limboland - The actor and stand-up comedian, important representative of the legendary sitcom Black Books, Bill Bailey will come to Bratislava after a tour in the UK, sold-out performances in Singapore and Hong Kong and a tour in Australia and New Zealand with his new live show Limboland. This time his stand-up comedy will include deep existential themes of modern man. Bill Bailey is described by critics as one of the best and most outstanding comedians today. BALLET: Romeo and Julliet - A romantic story composed by Sergey Prokofiev, inspired by the famous theatre play by Williama Shakespeare will be performed by the world renowned Royal Russian Ballet. The topic of forbidden love has been performed many times as a drama or the ballet, but a musical concept by Prokofiev belongs to the highlights of the ballet creation.
