As we prepare to bid farewell to 2024 and usher in 2025, one pressing question arises: how and where should we celebrate? In Slovakia, a traditional Silvester party often centres around a hearty pot of cabbage soup and sparkling wine. For those looking for a livelier atmosphere, the streets of Bratislava will be alive with revelry and an array of events.

“Come say goodbye to 2024 in the heart of our beautiful Bratislava,” invites Mayor Matúš Vallo.

This year, the city’s New Year’s Eve celebrations will extend beyond the usual hub at Hviezdoslav Square, with music programmes also taking place at Františkánske and Rybné Squares. Visitors can raise a glass at the Christmas markets at Main Square, with extended opening hours until 1:00.

In a nod to environmental and financial concerns, Bratislava has once again opted against fireworks on the Danube. You can, however, look forward to the collective countdown to 2025.
