Citizens and visitors of Michalovce can admire fairytale characters made from ice. The ice statues were made by four artists from Austria, Slovenia, Hungary and the Ukraine for the first Festival Ice Kingdom in Michalovce.
“We made statues under the theme of the traditional fairytale Trojruža (Triple-rose). Modern youth know the fairytale more under the name of Beauty and the Beast. So we have here Beauty, Bear and Triple-rose,” said art director of Daisy agency, Daniela Bérešová, who organized the event, as quoted by the TASR newswire.
The lifetime of the statues depends on the weather, which is not ideal. The statues are made from special ice that is clear with no bubbles inside.
The public in Michalovce could watch the preparation and making of the statues; the final statues are located at Námestie Slobody (Freedom Square).
