I have no idea what people tell their kids about who brings them presents. I don't care if they say it was Harry Potter or the whole jury of SuperStar. But why should we fool kids and swear that some alien or representative of pop culture brought them their gifts?
Why should the kids receive expensive presents and think that they got them just because it's Christmas?
I know many people shake their heads and cry that I want to take away the magic of Christmas, of Ježiško and Mikuláš. But I think children should know from when they are very little that they receive the gifts from parents and other relatives out of love: that Christmas is the holiday when people who care for each other exchange presents.
The children likewise should prepare presents for those they love. That way kids would better understand that the greater joy is to give than to receive.
I am old enough to think that Ježiško, Muhammad Ali or Jack Frost put the socks under the Christmas tree for me. If people need to cheat children with some uncle in a red hat, let it be.
