Košice premieres two ballets

THE KOŠICE State Theatre premieres Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and Igor Stravinskij's The Rite of Spring on January 21 in an arrangement by Ondrej Šoth.For Šoth it is the fifth time he has worked on Carmina Burana.

Previous productions include the German mega-production that has been touring the world since 1995, on which he worked with Walter Haupt.

In the Košice production, Šoth has designed the choreography and sets, and is the production's director.

"This time it will be a completely new project. It will present a contemporary picture about the relationship of the individual and society, about life today in which, unfortunately, positive values are rammed down our throats as much as was the practice of the Communist secret police," Šoth told the Košice daily, Korzár.
