IT SEEMS like winter has completely settled in Slovakia. Until now, it has been below freezing but mostly dry.

The natural snow forecast should now create a real winter atmosphere. Some 10 to 30 centimetres of snow may fall and it will remain below freezing in the mountains. The temperatures should stay between – 6 and – 2 degrees Celsius at heights above 1,000 metres and since most of the ski centres making artificial snow already have a sufficient base, the new snow can only improve conditions. We can expect any icy spots on the slopes to disappear and the surrounding landscape should look like a winter fairyland.
