Hide and Seek(Hra na schovávačku) - Thriller by John Polson. In what appears to be further evidence of his steadily downward trajectory, Robert De Niro stars in this psychological thriller about a man who must cope with his wife's suicide and his daughter's subsequent slide into the supernatural. Hollywood's latest ubiquitous child star, Dakota Fanning, stars as the daughter, who begins communicating with an imaginary friend, Charlie, after her mother's tragic death. But Charlie is no ordinary imaginary friend: He displays dark and violent tendencies and, as it turns out, might not be so imaginary after all. Famke Jannsen, Elisabeth Shue, Amy Irving, and Dylan Baker also star.

Ray - Drama by Taylor Hackford. Though Jamie Foxx's Oscar winning performance is certainly worth seeing, the rest of Ray sadly isn't. Foxx plays R&B/soul pioneer Ray Charles with exactly the right mix of timidity, swagger, pain, and mystery; unfortunately, director Taylor Hackford doesn't seem interested in - or capable of - developing the same character. Taking a cue from the worst of the biopic tradition, Hackford at once sentimentalizes and reduces his subject: his Ray constantly has flashbacks to his youth that are both obnoxiously "poetic" and heavy-handedly dramatic. Foxx aside, the whole thing has the air of a vanity project that only pretends to be hard-hitting. Well, at least the music's great.
