"The man with the golden saxophone."John Doyle
Jazzy alto saxophonist Larry Smith is coming all the way from New York to play in Bratislava - his only European visit - March 6 and 7 at the funky Monaco Night Club a floor under the Hotel Danube. The show gets going at 8 pm and about 350 tickets are available at the door for 90 Sk.
Smith has played with jazz-greats George Benson, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Rose among others. Benson has said that Smith was the first person who revealed him the beauties of jazz. According to Jean-Daniel Angibaud, the event's promoter, Smith bases his deep music on the legacy of Charlie Parker. It should be quite a night as Markíza and VTV cameras promise to bring the show to their audiences the next morning.
