This week's premieres

The Jacket(Zvieracia kazajka) - Thriller by John Maybury. Adrien Brody plays Jack, a Gulf War veteran committed to a mental institution for allegedly killing a police officer. His memories of the event clash with the claims of the mental institution's doctors, who champion a violent sort of rehabilitation. While withstanding torturous therapy, Jack has visions of his past and of a future with Jackie (Keira Knightley), a grown-up version of a young girl he tried to save during the police standoff.

Coffee and Cigarettes(Káva a cigarety) - Comedy by Jim Jarmusch. American cult filmmaker Jarmusch puts together a series of vignettes surrounding two of our favourite vices. Featuring little more than conversations, coffee drinking, and cigarette smoking, the film is intermittently fascinating and boring. Alfred Molina, Steve Coogan, and Cate Blanchett fare best among a cast that also includes Bill Murray, Steve Buscemi, Iggy Pop, Tom Waits, and a number of other actors and musicians.
