LEGENDARY US singer/songwriter Bob Dylan’s second performance in Slovakia will take place on June 27 in Košice.

Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman in 1941, founded his first band as a teenager, and released his first, eponymous, album in 1962. Since then he produced more than 30 studio albums and numerous hits, including many covered by other musicians, earning him a place in Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. His hits include Blowin’ In the Wind, The Times They Are a-Changin’, Subterranean Homesick Blues, Like a Rolling Stone, Tangled Up in Blue, Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door and Just Like a Woman. In 1991, he received a Grammy for his lifelong contribution to the world of music, and in 2000 he won his only Oscar for Things Have Changed from the film Wonder Boys (2000).

The ‘poet with a guitar’, as he is sometimes dubbed, has inspired many musicians, writers and artists worldwide, including some in Slovakia. Singer Richard Müller has all of his albums, and Jana Kirschner, a Slovak singer/songwriter now living in London, admits that Dylan’s lyrics fuelled her desire to learn English.

The concert at the Steel Arena on Nerudova 12 in the eastern-Slovak metropolis begins at 20:00 and tickets (costing €39-€89) can be bought via the organising agency, vagabond.com or through ticketportal.sk. The show is part of Dylan’s so-called Never Ending Tour, which started on July 7, 1988, in Concord, California.
