The minizoo Babičkin dvor (Grandma’s Backyard) got its first animals – chickens. In a short time it will also get two ponies.

The town of Šaľa has been preparing a minizoo in the former hospital grounds since spring of the last year. There will be hens, ponies, goats, peacocks, quails, turkeys and doves.

“We want our children to remember traditional domestic animals which used to be in the backyards of our grandparents’ houses,” said the management of the town, as quoted by the TASR newswire.

The minizoo is located in the park of the former hospital where there are already benches, plants and a children’s playground.
