Foreign guests

“One of the main attractions will be aerobatic groups, and visitors will be able to see several of them,” SIAF spokesman Dušan Hein told the TASR newswire. “Undoubtedly, the biggest star will be the French team of Patrouille de France [Patrol of France],” he added.

The nine pilots in red-white-blue Alpha Jet planes change their air display every year.

Meanwhile, the Royal Jordanian Falcons will appear for the first time.

Domestic anniversaries

A regular guest of the Sliač air show is a quartet of gliders from central Slovakia.

“In a year in which people from Aš [the westernmost point in the Czech Republic] to Čierna nad Tisou [the easternmost point in Slovakia] are commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Czechoslovakia, the SIAF is celebrating the unique history of Czechoslovak aviation. The gliders will be towed by Czechoslovak L-29 Delfin (Dolphin) and MiG-15 aircraft,” Hein said, as quoted by TASR.

Also on display will be C-27J Spartan military transport aircraft and older UH-60M Black Hawk military utility helicopters.
