THE WESTERN Pennsylvania Slovak Culture Association is kicking off its 5th Annual Slovak Film Festival this fall. As part of the programme, the association will screen a Slovak film with English subtitles every second Sunday of each month, from September 11 through December 11.
First up is Martin Šulík's peculiar film entitled Záhrada (The Garden, 1995), billed as a gentle comedy about life in a garden. The list follows with Obchod na korze (Shop on Main Street, 1965), a touching WWII drama starring Jozef Króner; Miloslav Luther's Anjel milosrdenstva (Angel of Mercy, 1993); and Dušan Hanák's Ja milujem, ty miluješ (I Love, You Love, 1980).
The films will be shown at the University of Pittsburgh's Posvar Hall in Room 1501, starting at 14:00. Admission for each show is $5; students are free.
