A MULTI-TON, larger-than-life statue of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin that was erected in a hospital park in eastern Slovakia's Poprad shortly before the fall of communism is today an attraction at the Toca Del Mar square in Seattle, USA.
Poprad artists had painted Lenin's huge shoes yellow, and had drawn footsteps on the ground heading to a nearby pub. But when the regime changed, English lecturer Lewis Carpenter bought the sculpture from Poprad and moved it to Seattle. Only the footprints of the communist leader remain in Slovakia.
The text on the statue pedestal reads: "Lenin - the Slavic leader of revolutionaries, who changed European history for many years to come".
