FOR THE FIRST time in its history, Slovakia will be represented at the Cannes Film Festival at a joint pavilion of three states: Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Poland.

The Slovak mission is organised and financed by the Slovak Association of Producers and Audio-visuals (SAPA) in cooperation with the Slovak Film Institute and the Culture Ministry. According to SAPA's chairman, Marián Urban, the aim of the Slovak representation is to "introduce Slovakia as a country with continuity in cultural cinema and to stress its possibilities as an ideal space for filmmaking".
