BRATISLAVA’S city beach on the Petržalka embankment of Danube River has become a place for free English language conversations every Tuesday evening beginning July 7, the TASR newswire wrote. The conversations are led by foreign teachers from The Bridge language school. Between 18:00 and 19:30, through August 25, anyone can take part in the discussions at the reading area of the beach with these instructors from Canada, Chile and the Philippines.
“Our goal is to show that studying English can be fun and not just a drill. We want to create a space for the English language to be a tool to get to know interesting people and acquire new knowledge,” Klaudia Bednárová, the head of the language centre told TASR. She added they have avoided the classic conversation topics that tend to be used in textbooks. Discussion topics at the city beach will include “let us meet in cyber-space”, “double your dating”, and “bizarre places of the world”.
