THE EVENT meant to showcase various foreign cultures present in Slovakia returns to Bratislava’s Old Market Hall after the summer break. This time round, it focuses on Iranian culture, which will be present in music, dance and gastronomy, and a vintage bazaar, too.
The Nedeľná parade! / Sunday Parade! on September 21 will try to teach people to cook traditional Iranian meals with Jem iné school of cooking, and to entice them to taste exotic meals made by Iranian Siavash, the proceeds from which will support the Vágus civic association that helps the homeless. The Ethnocatering project creates jobs for immigrants and gastronomic pleasure for clients. The Vintage Bazaar will offer some second-hand products, and CirKus-Kus will train both children and adults in acrobatics and juggling. The multi-functional centre TUTO will offer a workshop on staple postcards and also lectures on Tibet. In the afternoon, Zahra will perform traditional Iranian dance and there will be live music and a jam session.
Wandering a bit outside the stated region, the Czech organisation MOST pro Tibet will bring Buddhist monk Chamba from a monastery in Tiksa, who will lead those interested through the ritual of creating, devoting and destroying a traditional Tibetan mandala; this event will last from 10:00 to 17:00 on September 20 and from 11:00 to 17:00 on September 21.
The event, whose the motto is “The Whole World under a Single Roof!”, takes place on September 21 in the Old Market Hall in the SNP Square 25 in Bratislava. More information can be found on the citylife.sk website and on Facebook.
