The Run for Life is among the biggest charitable sporting events in Slovakia. This year’s goal is to collect €85,000 to buy the top laboratory device NanoSight. This device can measure items in Nano-world and it will help with the development of new diagnostic methods in oncological diseases.

New at this year’s Run for Life are shortened versions of the main track, which are prepared for the youngest participants. Runners can run or walk along the standard, four kilometre track, even with their pets. Each runner will receive a T-shirt and a package from partners at the start, and a medal and snack at the finish. The current state of the collection, the run’s track and photos can be found on the www.behprezivot.sk website.

The traditional patrons were joined this year by two new personalities: the national patron – actor Jozef Vajda – was joined by Olympic medal-winner in the skeet shooting competition, Danka Barteková, and the Olympic winner in biathlon, Anastázia Kuzmina. Ice-hockey forward Ján Pardavý and Ľubomír Sekeráš became patrons of the Run for Life in Trenčín.

Runners will be supported on tracks in individual towns and cities also by ‘die-hard’ patrons. Operatic singer Martin Bbajak, aerobic presenter Lucia Medeková, football coach Vladimír Labant, actors Ján Greššo and Eva Pavíková, ice-hockey player Vladimír Országh and the Prešov band Heľenine oči. The event is also supported by the company Unilever and the server Kariera.sk.
