Men In Black* - Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are two elite secret agents whose duty is to monitor the activities of alien visitors to our planet. Smith is hilarious as he learns the secrets of alien technology. Jones is straight up playing the no-nonsense agent. The film plays for the minds of ten-year-olds, but there is enough slap-stick comedy - be it special effects induced - to keep it entertaining and full of laughter. (Muži v čiernom)
Richard III* - As the Slovak title suggests, the reason to come to this film is to see one of the greatest actors perform this Shakespearean tragedy. Al Pacino stars, and shines as the king. (Al Pacino - Richard III)
Jurassic park II: lost world - Slovak movie theaters, it seems, have been invaded by an angry Tyrannosaurus Rex. If you can forget the fact that the T-Rex never existed during the Jurassic Age, then you'll enjoy Steven Spielberg bringing the meat-eater back to this day and age where it wreaks havoc on southern California. It's a shame that it didn't really happen, since the T-Rex might have stomped on 20th Century Fox and prevented the company from making another poorly-plotted sequel. But no one is interested in plot when the best special effects to date bring dinosaurs convincingly to life. Jeff Goldblum stars - who incidentally has starred in the highest grossing movies of all time, ID 4, and both Jurassic Park films. Sorry Arnie and Sly, it does pay to play a smart guy. Most theaters are showing the version dubbed in Czech, but Istropolis is apparently showing the original. Call beforehand to make sure. (Jurský Park: Stratený Svet)
Speed 2: Cruise Control* - Sandra Bullock, Jason Patric and Willem Dafoe star in this action-packed sequel. This time, the drama unfolds not on a bus, but on a cruiseliner in the Caribbean. Dafoe is great as (what else?) the creepy villain, who plays a sick computer expert. (Nebezpečná rýchlosť 2)
Donnie Brasco* - Al Pacino and Johnny Depp team up for the first time in this mob thriller. This is a true story of a young FBI agent who succeeded in winning the favor of the mob circles and, after six years of being one of them, reveals the extensive criminal underground. Later, the agent wrote a book about his life among the mobsters that became the basis for this film by Mike Newell. (Donnie Brasco)
