The pavilion of the two neighbouring countries can be found in the International Village at Marché du Film and has been there since May 17.
György Kristóf and Michal Blaško, two young Slovak film directors whose films are introduced in the Festival's Official Selection in their world premieres, and Slovak Producer on the Move, Katarína Krnáčová, whose Little Harbour was premiered at Berlinale 2017 and received the Crystal Bear award will represent the country in their due categories.
The film called Out by György Kristóf – a Slovak-Hungarian-Czech co-production – will compete in the Un Certain Regard section focused on the original. Less traditional works include Atlantis, 2003 by Michal Blaško which will appear in Cinéfondation, the competition for film schools. Blaško is a student of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.
The networking programme Producers on the Move 2017 will see Slovak Katarína Krnáčová who is – with her Silverart production company – behind the Little Harbour movie of director Iveta Grófová, awarded at the Berlinale.
Slovak – and co-production – films to be screened at the international market Marché du Film include A Prominent Patient by Julius Ševčík; Ice Mother by Bohdan Sláma; Little Harbour by Iveta Grófová; Spoor by Agnieszka Holland and Vilnius Goes to Cannes: A Long Day by Pavol Pekarčík, the Slovak Film Institute (SFÚ) informed. In the DOC Corner the documentary A Hole in the Head by Robert Kirchhoff and This Is Not Me by Miro Remo will be presented.
IFF Cannes has begun on May 17 and will continue until May 28.
