FIFTEEN theatre universities from a dozen countries arrive in Bratislava to take part in Istropolitana Project '06. The 16th biannual festival aimed at young viewers will run between June 24 and 28 in several Bratislava theatres.
During the five days, Aréna, Astorka Korzo'90 and Štúdio L+S theatre, along with Slovak National Theatre venues, will stage productions by theatre schools from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Germany, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, Great Britain, Russia, Israel, Iran and Slovakia. The Bratislava Academy of Performing and Drama Arts (VŠMU) will represent Slovakia with Anton Pavlovich Chekhov's Ivanov.
The performances in the programme were selected from over 100 schools. An international jury will watch and award prizes at the closing ceremony for the Best Play, Best Actor and Most Interesting Theatre Achievement.
Morning performances at VŠMU's Kaplnka theatre, the Architecture Faculty at the Slovak Technical University and the Old Town Hall's courtyard will accompany the main programme. Students will also hold the Theatre Olympic Games in the city's historical centre, inviting passers-by to the event.
